Arthritis

Arthritis is basically a medical condition in which an individual suffers from joints pain. It is caused by damage to the joints and has become quite widespread in the present day world. Many people above 55 years of age are suffering from arthritis today. There are different from of arthritis, of which the most common one is osteoarthritis.

Disease process in Arthritis

According to Ayurveda mostly pains are caused by the aggravation of vata (air) dosha. Arthritis is a condition which is caused by accumulation of ama and aggravation of vata. (Ama is a toxic by-product of improper digestion.) This ama circulates in the whole body and deposits or gets collected at the sites which are weaker.

Arthritis and Joint Pains

ArthiritisArthritis is one of the most common chronic diseases in the world. Despite lot of research and effort, an effective cure has still eluded us. All that can be offered are the anti inflammatory and pain killers like Aspirin.

Ayurveda: A art of healthy living

According to ayurveda arthritis is caused primarily by an excess of ama and lack of agni. This can be caused by poor digestion and a weakened colon, resulting in the accumulation of undigested food and the buildup of waste matter. Poor digestion allows toxins to accumulate in the body, and problems with the colon allow the toxins to reach the joints.

Ayurveda for Arthritis

Ayurveda is a holistic approach to healthcare with roots in ancient India. Translated, (ayur) is life and (veda) is knowledge. Treatment techniques used for arthritis can include healthy diet and lifestyle changes, ayurvedic herbal remedies and supplements, exercise, spiritual pratices, yoga, massage, meditation and other healing modalities.

Spa Natural Arthritis Treatments

When toxins accumulate, circulate and build up in the joints, inhibiting function, mobility and comfort, the result is the pain and suffering of arthritis.

When impurities develop faster than the body can eliminate them, cleansing alone is not enough for arthritis pain relief. The key to preventing toxic buildup is to create healthier cells. The Raj arthritis treatment program improves digestion and metabolism, forming pure, easily assimilated nutrient plasma, which lubricates and nourishes joint tissue, releasing impurities.

Ayurvedic Arthritis Care

Arthritis is the most common chronic degenerative disease in the world. This can be very painful condition and can affect both the young and old . Arthritis is known as Vata (air) disease which involves pain and weakening of the bones.

The Power of Concentration Meditation Technique

Meditation is an invaluable and proven science to optimize health and elevate the quality of one’s life. It not only promotes physical health, but also markedly improves emotional balance and psychological wellbeing. There are many types of meditation and in this article we will explore the popular and powerful Concentration Meditation Technique.

Concentration Meditation Techniques:

These are probably the most common and well know of all the meditations and often meditation is defined by these kinds of meditations exclusively. They are closely related to the Insight Meditation Techniques, with the difference being that Insight Meditation Techniques utilize the active application of intelligence and discernment, while the Concentration Meditation techniques use the power of focused attention to a greater degree. To some extent these meditations lay the groundwork for the Insight Meditations which need a high degree of concentration as a prerequisite to being effective.

1. Breath Meditation Technique (Zazen):

The heart of Zen Meditation is Zazen, the meditation of the Buddha. In this meditation, awareness and concentration are brought to the breathing process to help build mastery over the mind and free the system from dualistic thinking.

To practice Zazen one takes a seated posture and then begins to count the flow of one’s breath. Counting each inhalation and exhalation starting from one to ten. So, an inhalation is one, the next exhalation is two, and so forth. When one reaches the count of ten, one returns to one and starts counting again. This helps focus the mind and prevents it from drifting endlessly from one thought to another.

As one develops one’s ability to count undistracted from one to ten, one starts to count each breath cycle, instead of the inhalation and exhalation separately. So now one counts an inhalation and exhalation as one, the next complete breath as two and so forth till one reaches ten. After reaching ten, one returns to one and repeats the meditation.

In the advanced form of Zazen, one simply becomes the breath. In this form counting is dropped altogether and only keen awareness of the breath is maintained. One should not progress to this level until one has mastered the previous two.

Zazen breath meditation helps develop the power of focused concentration and creates a serene, peaceful mind capable of penetrating the veil of dualistic thinking.

2. Another breath based meditation is Vipassana:

In Vipassana one extends one’s awareness from one’s breath, to the body and the sensations that rise and fall within it. The objective being to have insight into the workings of the mind through self-observation. This form of meditation is also called Insight Meditation as it helps one develop insight into the true nature of things.

3. Object Concentration Meditation Technique:

There are many meditations that utilize an external object as a focus point for the mind. Zazen and Vipassana belong in this sections as well, but due to their widespread use I mentioned them separately.

The objects of focus can be anything from a point on the ceiling, to a flower, to external sounds in the environment. These meditations all develop focus, concentration, self knowledge, calmness and the witnessing consciousness. Their ultimate objective, though, is to have the meditator finally drop the object of concentration and encounter the non-dual nature of Reality directly.

Some examples of these meditations are Sound Awareness Meditation Technique and candle flame gazing (Trataka). Both these meditation utilize the sense modalities to accomplish the goals of concentration meditation.

Summary:

So you see from above that there are many types of concentration meditation techniques. This allows one to choose a type that is most suitable for their personality and disposition. The best way to discover the enormous benefits of meditation is to jump in and participate. What are you waiting for?

How To Relieve Your Arthritis Pain

]]>

If a person experiences muscle pain and it continues for more than two to three days, there is a strong chance that he or she is suffering from arthritis. This chronic disease is a very common disorder, one that affects lots of people all around the world. The major symptom of arthritis is pain in the bone joints, but some arthritis sufferers may also feel pain in certain organs in the body.

A lot of the treatment methods for different kinds of arthritis is natural. One of these treatment methods involves the way you eat. What you put into your body on a daily basis can have a real physical effect on the way you feel. It’s important that if you are suffering from arthritis of any kind that you eat as many raw vegetables and fruits as possible.

Avoid grains because they tend to heighten inflammation. If your dog’s condition is severe, you can change to home-prepared meals and include cooked or raw meats and vegetables. Celery, lettuce, cucumber and carrots are good in treating arthritis. Onions, mushrooms and raisins are highly toxic for your pet so be careful about this.

Another effective way in relieving canine arthritis pain is making use of supplements with Glucosamine. This amino sugar helps in maintaining and repairing cartilage structure. Look for something that contains Chondroitin Sulfate. This works in conjunction with Glucosamine to help treat dog arthritis.

A natural approach is to consume herbs with anti-inflammatory properties and pain relieving effects to your meals or through capsules. You can find such herbs at your local health food store.

One natural treatment method involves avoiding all inflammatory foods. Some of the supplements commonly used for relieving arthritis pain, but I don’t know if any of these work, are: glucosamine, chondroitin, bromelain, grapeseed extract, omega-3 and omega-6, cod liver oil, manganese ascorbate, MSM, boron, niacinamide, pantothenic acid, vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E.

You can also try less conventional and more natural methods of treating your arthritis. These methods are 100 percent safe and will leave you feeling better than you ever thought you could. One natural arthritis treatment involves diet. Watching what you eat can really made a world of difference in how you feel from day to day.

To be on the safe side always seek your doctor’s advice before starting or changing your exercise program. Exercise in a heated pool; it will help reduce the pressure on your joints and the heat will help you loosen those joints. Your body has 147 joints in motion every day. Even the lightest exercise can go a long way to maintaining your joint mobility and overall health.

There are also herbal medications that are used to treat arthritis. These include ginger, white willow bark, bromelain, tumeric, cayenne and devil’s claw. A professional in the field of natural health, should be able to suggest the right ones for you to try.

Since there are different types of alternative pain relievers out there, there is the need to get one that is ideal for your body system. The way you feel the pain is quite different from another person. Hence, the pain reliever must be different. Alternative arthritis pain reliever can only work if you get one that is well suited to your body system.

Effective Early Treatment for Arthritis

There is no cure-all drug for arthritis, but certainly a good start with a correct diagnosis makes a lot of difference in terms of pain management, if not pain prevention, for millions of arthritis sufferers.  An early and accurate diagnosis can help prevent irreversible damage and disability that is likely to happen when the onset of the disease is ignored and allowed to progress without treatment.  Doctors recommend a properly guided exercise program, rest, medications and physical therapy.

The treatment for all types of arthritis cases revolves around the following objectives:

• Relieve pain and inflammation
• Reduce risks of therapy
• Slow down disease progression
• Provide patient education
• Prevent work disability
• Enhance quality of life

With early and accurate diagnosis, arthritis sufferers are given the chance to try the less costly means to control the pain of arthritis through exercise and diet.  Exercise provides the least expensive option to keep the joints healthy.  Moving the joints daily through regular exercise helps keep them active and working, but regular consultation with a health professional is needed for proper guidance and monitoring. It is also important for the patient to understand the diagnosis as it relates to the exercise routine.

Two exercise routines commonly used by arthritis patients are the range of motion exercises and strengthening exercises:

Range-of-motion exercises are soft and moderate stretching routines designed to move joints through their normal maximum range of motion. They should be done on a regular basis everyday to help keep the joints moving and to prevent stiffness and deformities due to inactivity.  These exercises are crucial for arthritis patients, especially those who are not inclined to move their joints through their full range because of the chronic pain they experience.  It must be stressed here that normal daily activities, such as walking, dressing, washing, and cooking are not substitutes for range-of-motion workouts.

Arthritis patients likewise need strengthening exercises to help increase the strength of the muscles that supports the joints.  Strong muscles help joints to be firmer and more stable to make them move more easily with less pain.  Of course, these treatments for arthritis are only possible for mild cases which have been detected early enough.  As the disease progresses, arthritis patients may have to opt for more invasive treatments.

What is Meditation Really ?

Everybody is speaking about meditation these days but what is meditation really, what are the benefits of meditation and why you should to meditation ? Very few people actually go into the depth of what meditation is. A really good definition of meditation is very important in order for you to really benefit and have good meaningful meditation. There are many many courses about meditation and the different kinds of meditation, but lets go into detail about what meditation really is.

A very good definition of meditation to start with is this : Meditation is a state of concentrated focus of your mind.

Meditation consists of turning your attention inwards and taking a break from the outward distractions, to do meditation means to have a single point of reference, a single point of focus and the very simple definition of meditation is that instead of having the outward focus is to have the focus within focus in your mind.

Meditation is very popular in eastern religions, but it is getting very popular in the west and all over the world. Why is that ? It is pretty obvious that people are doing meditation because of only one reason and that reason is that they benefit from it, that they are getting an experience.

Meditation has been done for over 5,000 years and there are many many kinds of meditation, but you need to make a start and that is the only way that you can start to get an experience in meditation and that you can benefit from meditation. So, it is important to really go into the basics, understand what meditation is and then find yourself a very good course.

This is the great definition of what meditation is : Meditation describes a state of concentrated attention on some object of thought or awareness.

There you have it very simple, very clear. Without concentration there cannot be meditation, because the essence of meditation is the concentration of your mind be it on a mantra, be it on an objects or any other form of meditation that you prefer. So, like any other form of practice in life, where you want to get benefit, the same goes for meditation. If you spend a time and the effort on the discipline of concentrating on the meditation that you prefer, you will have benefits and the benefits will be great, because what is the ultimate benefit of meditation ? It is happiness ! We all want to be happy and many many people are discovering that meditation is the great way to get inner happiness.

Ok, now we have a definition of what meditation is, the next step is to do something. You can only achieve something when you do something so make a start. Find yourself a great course, a great program and start. The worst thing that can happen is that you take some benefit and increase your happiness. There are some great courses out there, so look around do your homework and start meditating. Good luck !

Arthritis is a broad term, which is used to refer to more than 100 conditions that can cause pain in the body’s joints. Important features are speed and time of onset, pattern of joint involvement, symmetry of symptoms, early morning stiffness, tenderness, gelling or locking with inactivity, aggravating and relieving factors, and other systemic symptoms. Osteoarthritis is typically worse at night or after resting. Elements of the history of the disorder guide diagnosis.

Arthritis involves a lot of money in buying medications as it is not curable. Contributing factors include congenital hip luxation (which is genetically determined), obesity, osteoporosis, and inflammatory diseases such as Perthes’ sickness and all chronic forms of arthritis (e. Rheumatoid arthritis is generally worse in the morning; in the early stages, patients often have no symptoms after a morning shower. Most people with osteoarthritis in their fingers don’t even know about it unless an x-ray reveals deterioration in the cartilage.

Causes Of Arthritis

Overdoing any physical activity or even staying still for to long will cause a reaction within the joints and the tissues and make it much harder to handle the arthritis pain, taking it easy and exercising lightly help to control the pain and keep it to a minimal. Tiring yourself out can especially provoke flare ups for people with rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by an overactive immune system. If you are in a situation where you don’t move around a lot, it could affect your arthritis also.

Cure for Arthritis

Ice packs can help with swelling and inflammation, but people with circulatory problems should avoid this. You can also use acetaminophen for your rheumatoid arthritis, which does not have these side effects. Some other ways to relieve rheumatoid arthritis pain are to lose weight to take additional pressure off joints, eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, using heat or ice, and possibly using devices such as a cane, brace, or splint. Treatment options vary depending on the type of arthritis and include physical and occupational therapy, lifestyle changes (including exercise and weight control), and medications (symptomatic or targeted at the disease process causing the arthritis).

That makes them richer in C than citrus fruits, but sweet peppers are also excellent sources of vitamin B6 and folate. Commonly referred to as one of nature’s perfect foods bananas are perhaps best known for packing potassium, but they’re also good sources of arthritis-fighting vitamin B6, folate, and vitamin C. If you are in need of vitamin C but aren’t a big fan of citrus fruits, reach for a green pepper. Cheese can be easily sliced to put on a cracker or a sandwich, grated into your favorite recipe, or eaten alongside an apple or pear for a fresh, quick snack.

You can also get more information on arthritis symptoms from the Arthritis Foundation. Symptoms of this arthritis include: low back and hip pain and stiffness; difficulty expanding the chest; pain in neck, shoulders, knees, and ankles; low-grade fever; fatigue; weight loss. There is pain, swelling, and joint stiffness.

When any region in and around the joint becomes heated, it could lead to pain, puffiness and even determined mobility. Click Link For Thumb Arthritis Treatment

Arthritis can be caregorised into two discrete kinds, namely primary and secondary Arthritis. Primary Arthritis is oft referred to as the ‘wear-and-tear’ Arthritis, as it is linked up with aging and the degeneracy of the cartilage with the coming of age. In the matter of fact, the older an individual gets, the more possibly he or she will feel some kind of pain. Aside from age, there is no evident reason for this affliction. Secondary Arthritis, on the other hand, can be copied to an evident cause. The break up of cartilage in this case can be associated to makes such as obesity, injury, hereditary, etc

This affects each person differently and at changing asperity. In spite of this, respective general Symptoms have been discovered. They are joint irritation after periods of inactivity or even overdrive, morning clumsiness that normally does not last more than 30 minutes, pain from weakened muscles circling the joint, declivity in coordination, bearing and movement due to pain and clumsiness. It often affects on middle-aged and older people. Men below the age of 55 are more possibly to be afflicted related to women of the same age group. Despite being one of the oldest diseases known to man, the reason for this illness is still not fully known. All the same, various risk factors that may lead to rheumatoid Arthritis have been distinguished. These factors include age which is a significant risk factor, as wear and tear plays an important part in the growth of this illness. Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease where white blood cells suddenly attack healthy tissues, specifically joints and cartilage. There are a few ways to help ease the symptoms, depending on which stage of the disease you are in.  If you are in the early stages of rheumatoid arthritis there is a new disease modifying anti-rheumatic drug (DMARD) which has done an excellent job in controlling symptoms.  It works best in the initial stages, so if you suspect you may have rheumatoid arthritis, see your doctor as soon as possible.

There are other options if you are in later stages of rheumatoid arthritis.  These are also helpful if you are still in early stages.  One is to use anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen.  This does a great job reducing pain and inflammation.  However, these have side effects including heart problems and gastrointestinal bleeding.  You can also use acetaminophen for your rheumatoid arthritis, which does not have these side effects.

When symptoms are mild, moderate exercising including stretching, weight lifting, and aerobics ease rheumatoid arthritis symptoms.  Be sure to rest when your joints flare up as this would just add strain to your aching joints.  Stretching is important because it increases flexibility and is easy enough to do at any age.  When stretching, stop when you feel mild discomfort and hold for 10 to 30 seconds.  Then repeat 3 to 5 times.  Weight lifting also improves flexibility as well as strength and balance.  Barbells are easy, convenient, and inexpensive.  Remember to stretch before lifting any weights.  Start with 3 sets of 8 to 10 repetitions.  If you would like you can start with no weights at all (such as going leg lifts for rheumatoid arthritis in the knees), then add weights when you can.  Lift the weights slowly and evenly to not damage the cartilage.

Some other popular forms of exercise for rheumatoid arthritis are aqua therapy and Tai Chi.  Be sure to find an actual therapist as they have specific exercises they do for arthritis patients.  Aerobics instructors may push to far and do further damage.  Tai Chi has no long term studies proving its effectiveness, but due to testimonials from patients who have taken Tai Chi, the Arthritis Foundation began offering the class.  Remember to always check with your doctor before starting an exercise program.

Some other ways to relieve rheumatoid arthritis pain are to lose weight to take additional pressure off joints, eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, using heat or ice, and possibly using devices such as a cane, brace, or splint.  There are many resources for additional information on rheumatoid arthritis including websites, flyers, periodicals, books, etc.  Your doctor should be able to provide you with some reference on where to look for additional help.

Rheumatoid Arthritis: What you Need to Know

Edit Article |

]]>

Today over one million Americans are affected by rheumatoid arthritis (RA); this figure includes 200,00 children who suffer from juvenile RA.  There is a wealth of rheumatoid arthritis information available to educate individuals about this disease and about RA treatments.

Rheumatoid arthritis facts have determined that individuals who are between twenty to fifty years of age suffer from this disease; however it is known to affect older adults as well. RA affects women three times more than men.  Specifically, RA affects the joints in the cervical spine (neck area).  The joint in this area that RA most frequently impacts is the odontoid process in the upper cervical spine. The odontoid travels from the second cervical vertebrate upwards in a tooth-like structure.

There are both surgical and non-invasive RA treatments available to patients.  Rheumatoid arthritis treatments are intended to control progression of the disease, help reduce pain symptomatic of RA, sustain physical function and capacity, and to achieve a enhanced quality of life.  RA treatment is specific to the individual and can depend on what other medications you may be taking, the severity of the disease, your overall physical health, age, cost, personal preference for treatment, and safety.

Typically, rheumatoid arthritis can be treated with medication to slow the progression of the disease and reduce pain.  Drugs available for the treatment of RA include non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, which serve to reduce discomfort by reducing inflammation in the joints.  Under this category, COX-2 inhibitors are a new type of drug that achieve the same affect but intended to cause fewer negative side effects in RA patients such as upset stomach and stomach bleeding. Corticosteroid drugs are another treatment for rheumatoid arthritis sufferers that can slow joint damage and reduce inflammation.  This RA treatment, however, has been known to become less effective over time as the body adjusts to the anti-inflammatory chemicals, and can cause severe side effects in some individuals.  Immunosuppressants can be effective for patients to assist the immune system, since RA facts show that a large cause of the disease stems from a defective immune system.

Rheumatoid arthritis information shows that surgery may be a good option for patients who suffer from nerve problems as a result of RA.  This is caused by severe inflammation of the joints that tends to damage and irritate surrounding nerves.  Surgical RA treatment is used to decompress the spinal cord to alleviate nerve pressure that is often at the root of the problem.  Spinal instrumentation and fusion are surgical treatments that can fix deformity in the spine caused by the progression of rheumatoid arthritis; this can help give a long-lasting stability to the spinal column.  More RA facts pertaining to surgical treatment such as post-operative care and practices should be taken into consideration before electing to undergo surgery as a means of rheumatoid arthritis treatment.   These elements can include, but are not limited to, physical therapy, operational therapy, and possibly keeping a personal medical diary about your condition to help pinpoint the most effective treatment plan for your RA.

Lіke humans, dogs can suffer from the paіns of arthritis . Іf you’re a dog owner reluctant to put your loved companіon through a Dog arthritis treatment, we totally understand your concerns. Many dogs don’t respond posіtіvely to medіcatіons and end up feelіng worse. To solve your dog’s problem, you mіght resort to natural methods of treatment. Let us begіn by defіnіng arthritis  and іts causes іn the canіne world.

Arthritis іs the іnflammatіon of joіnts and muscles usually affectіng older, іnactіve, or overweіght dogs. Unlіke humans, your dog cannot defіne hіs paіn but you can tell іf your dog has arthritis  by hіs level of actіvіty and responsіveness when you call hіs/her name. The most common type of arthritis  affectіng dogs іs osteoarthritis  assocіated wіth overuse of cartіlages. You can help your dog battle arthritis naturally usіng the followіng herbs and supplements…

Vіtamіn C іs one of the best supplements to protect agaіnst joіnt deterіoratіon. Dependіng on your dog’s sіze, you can add up to 4,000 mg of powdered Vіtamіn C to theіr meals to allevіate arthritis  symptoms. You must avoіd powdered Vіtamіn C that’s hіghly acіdіc, іnstead use a less acіdіc form — Ask your pharmacіst for more detaіls.

Mussels are essentіal to repaіrіng damaged tіssues. Greenlіp mussels and Perna mussels are most effectіve іn dog arthritis  treatment. Іf you can’t fіnd fresh mussels, you can easіly fіnd a suіtable shellfіsh extract at your local pet store.

Vegetables are one of the top dog arthritis fіghters. Your dog may not lіke eatіng vegetables, but try to mіx them wіth hіs/her food for best results. Vegetables are rіch іn mіnerals and vіtamіns that help allevіate arthritis  aches.

Alfalfa and Yucca are great іn reducіng arthritis paіns for dogs. These herbs can be easіly brewed іnto a tea that your dog drіnks on a daіly basіs. The dosage depends on your dog’s sіze and age. For best results, try to brew the tea early mornіng as your dog’s joіnts are the stіffest then.

Stіngіng nettles are yet another herb that can lower your dog’s arthrіtіc paіn.You can easіly make your dog a stіngіng nettles tea usіng the powdered extract. For best results, add the stіngіng nettles to the Alfalfa and Yucca herbal tea.

A mіx of comfrey leaves, chopped rosemary, and parsley lubrіcate your pet’s joіnts. Whіle many dogs won’t lіke the mіx, they stіll love eatіng comfrey leaves.

Usіng these natural methods, you can reduce the symptoms of dog arthritis. One obstacle іs that dogs can be fіckle wіth theіr eatіng patterns. Another obstacle іs the cost and avaіlabіlіty of these natural herbs. As a solutіon, you can use natural arthritis  relіef oral drops. Such homeopathіc remedіes are easy to admіnіster and have no negatіve sіde effects on your dog’s health.

Arthritis is defined as the inflammation of joints in your body. This condition is normally present among people in their 50′s, although certain young individuals may also have it. There are several factors that can cause arthritis. First is genetics. Although medical experts are not sure on how much genetics can affect the development of arthritis, certain genetic variations have been proven to contribute to arthritis. The second is age. As an individual becomes older, the cartilage of his body becomes brittle and loses its capability to repair itself. When this happens, the development of arthritis may most likely occur.

The next factor that can cause arthritis is excess weight. If the joint has to support too much load, it would have a higher tendency to become damaged. Another cause of arthritis is previous injury. When a joint has been damaged by excessive or blunt force, irregularities may form in the joint’s smooth surface. Work hazards are another cause of arthritis. Studies have proven that people who work in assembly line and heavy construction have a high tendency to have arthritis.

After you have learned the possible causes of arthritis, you should identify its symptoms. You should, however, be aware that the symptoms of arthritis are not limited to the ones below. The first symptom of arthritis is joint pain. You may feel this joint pain while moving or doing an activity such as walking, writing, typing, or throwing something. The second symptom is inflammation. You may notice your joints becoming unusually warm, red, and/or stiff.

The next common symptom of arthritis is loss of range of motion or flexibility in your joints. You may notice that you could no longer move a specific joint to a position to which you could previously move it. Other symptoms of arthritis include irregular weight loss, extreme fatigue, non-specific fever, and joint deformity.

Now that you know the causes and symptoms of arthritis, you should learn about the ways of treating it. The first method of treating arthritis is exercise. You should exercise 20 to 30 minutes a day. However, you must avoid any type of exercise that causes joint pain which lasts one hour after the workout. In addition, you should manage to get a full eight-hour sleep every night. Sleep enables your body to regenerate, thus it lets joints heal naturally. Next, you should always remember to practice proper body posture. Stand straight and do not slouch. Lift heavy objects with your hip muscles and not your back. Another treatment for arthritis is physical therapy. Ask your doctor about the appropriate type of therapy for your case. An example is hydrotherapy, which involves mild exercises in the water. Moving on, you can apply warm compress on the affected joint. Do this for 20 minutes daily until the pain and swelling would subside. For severe cases of arthritis, you need to consult your doctor about the surgeries that could cure the said ailment.

‘Let thy food be thy medicine’ Hippocrates, the father of medicine in ancient Greece is still very important in today’s society for his wise quotes and his way to be a visionary. His words “Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine shall be thy food” are generally true nowadays as well and there is no culture on the Earth that does not heard the simplified version of his words: “You are what you eat”.  In the last 50 years there has been made a tremendous change in the food industry. The meals contain from 1970 the revolutionary Fast Food that turned eating in million dollars business. In the past two decades, the number of people suffering obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and rheumatoid arthritis has almost doubled compared to the beginning of the 20th century. What is the reason of these common diseases? Modern science can’t find a particular cause. But what do all these patients have in common? Basically the food they eat. As a result of the progress of the technique and science, we came to the level where our food is being engineered by the global companies that provide fast food and meat worldwide. Is there an effect of this fact? There surely is. People that grew up eating this junk food and are now 40-60 years old suffer of painful diseases that seem to be incurable.  What commonly happens with the patients that suffer of the junk food disease is that they start wondering whether there is a natural cure for their diseases. Doctors always say the same thing: there is no proven cure for rheumatoid arthritis or cardiovascular diseases. However, many of them advice the patients to seek to find healing power in natural treatments. According to Hippocrates, the food should be our medicine. Well, there has been found that natural treatments that involve seafood are extremely beneficial to people suffering of rheumatoid arthritis. The reason why people that add fish in their regular diets find that the disease symptoms loosen up is because of the fish oil this food contains. Omega 3, the fatty acids that can be found in fish oils, are very an effective rheumatoid arthritis treatment that help reducing the arthritis inflammation that is the result of joint degeneration.  People that suffer of obesity can be easily cured of their diseases if they start having their meals consisting of vegetables, fruits and water. However, many obese people have become somehow dependent of the junk food they eat and just can give up to their unhealthy lifestyle. That is why they also need besides the natural diet also therapy so that they won’t give up. Because of the fact that obesity leads to high blood pressure, and other cardiovascular diseases, it can’t be treated only with natural diets. And so is it with other junk food diseases too. Because of their complexity, they need more than a natural treatment, they need a whole new lifestyle that includes regular physical exercises combined with a healthy diet and minimized stress. In this way, even chronically diseases like rheumatoid arthritis become less painful and the arthritis joint pain gets diminished.

The bones of a joint are addressed with a smooth, elastic material called cartilage. The cartilage plays as cushion to the bones, which enables the joint to act without pain. The joint is also delineated by a thin film of tissue called synovium that makes a slippery fluid called synovial fluid that aliments the joint and assists decreases friction between the bones. When any region in and around the joint becomes heated, it could lead to pain, puffiness and even determined mobility. Click Link For Finger Arthritis Treatment

The simple answer is yes. Environmental factors, nutritional status and dietary intake more than genes can add years to a person’s appearance. While topical applications make a difference, a healthy glow is more often a sign of internal health than anything else. There is a growing body of evidence to show that what we eat certainly influences skin aging and not surprisingly, the dietary correlations that relate to reduced skin aging also relate to reduced aging in general. Apart from dietary interventions, research is showing that supplementation with specific nutrients and antioxidants supports the use of topical anti-aging products and that in fact the combination is more effective than either treatment alone. Below is a review of the most significant dietary and nutritional influences on aging.

An Australian study at Monash University looked at the effects of food and nutrient intake on skin wrinkling in areas exposed to the sun. The participants were from Melbourne, Greece and Sweden.

Food intake questionnaires were used to measure diet and microphotography of the skin was used to measure skin wrinkling. The study showed that Swedish had the least skin wrinkling, followed by Greeks and Australians had the most. The types of foods consumed did have an effect on the degree of skin wrinkling with more damage seen in those with a higher intake of meat, dairy and butter. Foods that had a protective effect against skin wrinkling included vegetables, legumes, olive oil, tea, prunes and apples (see full list below). Overall, positive dietary habits trended towards a low-GI diet.

Another study supports the above food associations showing that skin wrinkling in a sun-exposed site in older people of various ethnic backgrounds may be influenced reducing intakes of fats and carbohydrates and increasing antioxidants and beneficial fats, dietary measures which are associated with better skin-aging appearance.

It is worth noting that research linking skin aging and dietary habits should not be taken out of context. Overall dietary trends produce these effects rather than any single food group in isolation. However, the dietary trends in both studies show that high GI and saturated fats seem to have the most significant pro-wrinkling effect. Due to their higher saturated fat content meat, dairy and butter can increase skin inflammation and lead to faster skin aging. In addition a high sugar intake is also associated with greater skin wrinkling. Simple sugar has a pro-inflammatory effect but it also promotes the production of advanced glycosylation end products (AGE). AGEs are closely associated with oxidative stress. A combination of a high antioxidant diet and low sugar reduces inflammation, free radical damage and AGE production in the body. Again the trend shows that the protective foods are low or have no saturated fats and are low GI and rich in phytochemicals which support skin collagen and reduce inflammation.

The Monash study indicated that these foods associated with less wrinkling:

o Mono-unsaturated fat including those from olive oil and olives
o Nuts and legumes
o Vegetables
o Fish (particularly those rich in essential fatty acids)
o Low fat milk and milk products, such as yogurt
o Wholegrain cereals
o Fruit and fruit products (especially prunes, cherries and apples)
o Eggs
o Tea and Water

More wrinkling was associated with diets that included higher intakes of:

o Saturated fat (including butter)
o Trans fats (including margarine)
o Meat (especially fatty processed meats)
o Full fat dairy products
o Refined carbohydrates and sugars such as cakes, pastries and desserts
o Soft drinks and cordials
o Confectionary of any kind
o Many packaged and processed foods contain hidden sugars
o Packaged cereals

Apart from dietary trends, certain nutrients also show promising effects on skin aging. Studies have shown that antioxidant nutrients, specifically vitamins C and E, as well as lipoic acid and flavonoids, exert protective effect against oxidative stress in the skin, in particular photoprotective effects. That is they help protect the skin from the oxidative damage caused by the sun. Lycopene, lutein, and zeaxanthin as a specific subset of carotenoids may also be used as oral sun protectants and contribute to the maintenance of skin health. In fact, taking carotenoids prior to sun exposure will increase the depth and lasting effect of a sun tan (not that extended tanning is advised).

In other research, a daily dosage of soy isoflavones (40mg per day) resulted in the improvement of fine wrinkles and increased skin elasticity after 12 weeks of supplementation in middle-aged women with aged skin. Interestingly, a common arthritis supplement glucosamine also improved the appearance of visible wrinkles and fine lines. Glucosamine is incorporated into glucosaminoglycans (GAGs) in the body. GAGs work to increase epidermal thickness and elasticity of the skin although they have no effect on skin hydration.

Research into oral proanthocyanidins flavanoids from grapeseed extract or pycnogenol has shown they both have a significant protective effect on the collagen matrix of the skin and capillaries. They work by reducing capillary fragility and inhibiting collagen, hyaluronic acid and elastin breakdown. Both substances also have an anti-inflammatory effect and can improve peripheral circulation.

Again it is important to note that while supplemental nutrition can support skin health in a number of ways, if concurrent dietary changes aren’t made, the supplements will be combating the constant inflammatory cascade from high GI foods and saturated fats. Removing these dietary items will ensure that inflammation, AGEs and oxidation are all reduced allowing the supplements to work to their optimal level and effect real changes in skin health.
